Madison (America): America is just over two weeks away from electing the presidency, and the rise in cases of Corona Virus infection in election-critical states remains a cause for concern for election officials and voters.
Local election officials in states like Iowa and Wisconsin prematurely open a polling station due to fears that election officials may be infected, isolated or out of fear of infection at the last minute. They appointed additional staff and asked voters to be prepared for long lines.
In addition to Iowa and Wisconsin, the number of infections and deaths is also on the rise in Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Ohio. There have been record cases of corona virus infection in Wisconsin this week. Governor Tony Evans said the Wisconsin National Guard will be appointed in the event of a staff shortage in polling stations. Scott County Auditor Roxanna Moritz of Iowa has opened additional centers in Davenport and surrounding areas to keep the number of people in polling stations on election day.
