SEOUL: Lee Kun-hee, president of the South Korean multinational Samsung Electronics, passed away on Sunday. He was 16 years old. The company issued a statement confirming his death. In a statement released by Samsung, Lee was said to have passed away on Sunday. It was then that his son Lee Jae Young and other members of his family were with him. Lee was hospitalized on May 30 after suffering a heart attack. He has been in the hospital ever since. In his absence, his son Young was employed by the company.
Lee Kun-hee inherited the company from his father. Under his year, Samsung Electronics has become a global brand. Under his leadership, Samsung has become a major manufacturer of smartphones, televisions and memory chips. With Samsung’s help, South Korea has become the fourth largest economy in Asia. The Samsung Group is now operating in many other sectors including shipbuilding, life insurance, construction, hotels and amusement park operations.

According to Forbes, Lee’s assets in January 2017 are $ 1 billion. He passed away at a time when Samsung was experiencing difficulties. After Lee was hospitalized, Samsung’s lucrative mobile business received a tough challenge from companies in China and other emerging markets.
