Twitter has stated that these experts must ensure that the email address which any user has linked to their Twitter accounts, is their work email addresses. Furthermore, users must upgrade their bio with references in addition to a hyperlink to their offices, along with the page they link their accounts to must also ideally include a reference back to their own accounts.
The business has made this movement in the aftermath of rising spread of false information regarding the novel coronavirus that has taken its grip across the globe. The blue checkmark has found a new useful function, because it will help steer users to access more authentic voices or official accounts for both high-profile associations or people.
Users may verify their accounts by following the official Twitter rules, that cover impersonation accounts, no others and harassment, to post news related to COVID-19 and coronavirus. It is also searching for ways to collect tips from the public, after reviewing tips from the partners and public health authorities .
The social networking platform is working with health authorities around the world, including the World Health Organization, state health authorities, CDC and accredited educational institutions to identify accounts of these organizations in addition to the experts associated with them.
