You can purchase some of the world’s oldest emoticons! :-)

Everything is available for purchase. The same may be said for the oldest emoticons on the planet. They will be available for purchase in the United States soon.

The most well-known emoticons in the world are also the ones that have been around the longest. They are 🙂 and :-(, and they will be auctioned off in the United States. Scott Fahlman, the project’s creator, will sell them as a non-fungible token (NFT), which is a non-exchangeable attribute that ensures ownership.

As a result, the emoticons are poured into an NFT. These tokens are tied to a digital’something,’ which can be found on the internet. Consider a picture or a meme as an example. In this example, an emoticon is being used. The token serves as a proof of ownership for this item. Afterwards, they can be stored virtually anywhere in the world.

Heritage Auctions is the auction house that will be in charge of overseeing the entire process. The emoticons are accompanied by a formal certificate as well as two essays written by Fahlman. At Carnegie Mellon University, he holds the position of professor of computer science. He needs to be able to compose essays.

The emoticons are described as “the first steps towards a new form of universal language” in one of the two essays he has written on the subject. The emoticons on this page are pretty old. Fahlman made the first use of them on September 19, 1982, when he published his book. Of course, the emoji 🙂 had to be used to signify that the joke was intended. Surprisingly, the symbol 🙁 stood for “I’m serious.” Many people now use it to express dissatisfaction with a product or service.

NFT

Last year was the year of non-financial transactions (NFTs). There has never been a year with more sales than this one. Consider the very first tweet ever sent on Twitter, or the very first piece of music, or even a doll. This resulted in millions of euros in some instances. It remains to be seen whether or not this will be accomplished.
